BIO:

Having retired to Somerset after many years teaching in Yorkshire, Jackie Hales is a member of the Society of Authors, whose début novel, “Shadows of Time”, was published by Willow River Press in 2022. She has been writing as a hobby since childhood, contributing to poetry anthologies since her undergraduate days. She also enjoys writing short stories for friends, family and students, including children’s stories and even a story about her son’s wayward cat for the rescue centre’s blog! She has read her work on YouTube for “Poetry Archive Now” and has had various submissions published online, including micro-fiction and flash fiction on “Paragraph Planet”, “Roi Faineant” and “Flash Fiction North”. Publication of a piece of creative memoir by “Dear Damsels” in 2019 was a precursor to a unique collaboration with her sister, Bonnie Meekums, on a creative non-fiction memoir of their 1950s childhood, “Remnants of War”, published in 2021. Jackie has a Facebook page and writes a blog (as Jotting Jax) about her walks and inspiration in the Yorkshire and Somerset countryside, interspersed with the challenges of life as a seventy-something woman.
